Geologists say that half of the earth’s history is represented in the canyon’s rocks, terraced buttes and mesas. Its Navajo name translates as “the place where water runs through rocks‚” protected from the elements and respected by the Navajos for its spiritual harmony with nature, this afternoon you’ll have a choice of how you explore it. You can go by open-air 4-wheel-drive vehicle* and take a walk through the canyon, or you can take a scenic cruise for spectacular views of Glen Canyon Dam.
